The Jagatsinghpur BJD district unit on Tuesday held its executive committee meeting here with district president and Rajya Sabha member Bishnu Das chairing it.

Party State observers Prasana Acharya and Prafulla Samal and MlAs of Tirtol and Balikuda-Ersama, the Jagatsinghpur MP and all senior party district leaders attended the meeting, but Paradip MlA and Minister Damodar Rout and any other leaders from Paradip were conspicuously absent.

The meeting was held following instruction from party supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for forging the party’s unity at the grassroots ahead of the panchayat polls. But Damodar Rout, who is also a party vice-president, chose to stay away from the meeting for his own reasons.

The party’s meeting was necessitated taking into account the growing dissatisfaction among the party sympathisers who allege that the local MlAs and MP have been neglecting them.

The meeting witnessed the wrath against Tirtol MlA Rajashree Mallick for her ignoring ZP members and party workers for past two years. Balikuda-Ersama MlA and District Planning Board Chairman Prasanta Muduli wanted that the neglected party workers should be appeased to stop intraparty dissentions.

Bishnu Das admitted that unhappiness has been grownup among a few party workers due to lack of communications between them and party leaders which would be sorted out before the GP elections.

With regard to Damodar Rout’s absence, Das informed that the former had been invited to attend the brainstorming get-together, but he skipped the meeting and none of his Paradip followers also attended the meeting. The State observer would apprise about this to party supremo Naveen Patnaik, he maintained.
