In his anxious bid to expand his extremely poor support circle after being disgraced from the BJD, Damodar Rout on Saturday appealed to Bijay Mohapatra and Dilip Ray to join his recently-formed Biju Samata Kranti Dal.
Rout’s invitation to Mohapatra and Ray followed the two leaders’ resignation from the BJP on Friday amid speculations that they are likely to return to their old party, the State’s ruling BJD.
Rout said Mohapatra and Ray should not run after power and should, instead, oppose the Naveen Patnaik Government on the corruption front.
Mohapatra, however, said that he has been approached by some other parties to join them, but he has not decided his next move. He and Ray would take a decision about their future political course after about a fortnight after Ray returns from his foreign visit.
