The Dalmia Cement (Bharat) limited, which bagged the Kottameta limestone mine in Malkangiri district last month, is keen to set up a pithead clinker factory there.
OCl India ltd and Dalmia Cement East ltd executive director Ganesh W Jirkuntwar told reporters at the Cuttack Barunia-based Kapilas Cement Manufacturing Works premises that though we have a plan to set up a three million tonne clinker factory at Kottameta but the proposal is still in ground level and the company is yet to take a final call on this.
He said it takes three years and an investment of Rs 2,000 crore to set up a three million tonne capacity clinker plant.
Jirkuntwar said the company has set a target to enhance the production capacity of Kapilas Cement Manufacturing Works to 1.7 MT from the existing 1.35 MT. The company would invest Rs 4-5 crore for the purpose.
