The poor Dalit parents of one Pravasini Sethi (20) of Routara village under Binjharapur block in Jajpur district have been running from pillar to post for treatment of their daughter, who has got a fleshy mass on her left eye.
As the mass kept growing, the parents had rushed Pravasini to a hospital in Cuttack last year, but the doctors failed to remove the flesh. “The doctors advised us to take my daughter to some reputed eye hospitals in Bhubaneswar, Hyderabad or Mumbai. But we have no money for her treatment in big hospitals,” said Pravasini’s father Rabindra Sethi, a washer man.
Her mother Malati said, “My husband sold our cattle, lands and even our furniture. But we still don't have enough money to cover the treatment of our daughter." "My daughter badly needs about Rs 1 lakh for her operation. But we cannot afford it, and people are no longer so generous. I need help from the Government and other sources,” said Rabindra with tears welling up in his eyes.
