The Odisha Dalit Adhikar Manch has expressed its strong solidarity with the SC and ST MlAs for their agitation in the State Assembly over various demands for justice to the Adivasi and Dalit people.
Even after 68 years of Independence, the State Government has not implemented the Constitutional rights of SC and ST people, resented Manch State coordinator Prashant Mallick in a statement.
“In this context, SC and ST MlAs are demanding promotion of employees of their community, job reservation for Dalit and Adivasi students in private sectors, a 38-per cent reservation of seats for SC and ST students in medical and engineering colleges and strict implementation of the SCSP and TSP in all departments. But the Chief Minister’s attempt to forcefully disperse the agitating MlAs by using his power is highly condemnable,” said Mallick.
At a meeting held here recently, the Manch members unanimously decided to take the movement forward for the welfare of SC and ST people. They also warned to intensify their agitation in every district if the State Government does not fulfil the demands forthwith.
