Several Dalit organisations and Bagula villagers slammed the police for failing to arrest the accused involved in the Jhili Mallick murder occurred three days ago and threatened to take to the street if the accused are not arrested within a week.
Dalit leaders like Raghaba Mallick, Shankar Das and Tutu Mallick on Saturday met the deceased woman’s family members in Bagula village on Sunday and expressed their support to fight for justice. Family members have lodged an FIR against one Aditya Sahoo who had allegedly murdered Jhili Mallick and injured her husband Abanti, who is now undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack. They too demanded compensation for the deceased family and free medical treatment for injured Abanti Mallick.
