The Khuntuni police on Monday morning foiled a dacoity bid by arresting three miscreants from the nearby Mahalaxmipur jungle in Cuttack district.

The arrested were identified as Hemanta Behera of Khuntuni, Susanta Sahoo and Debraj Sahoo of Dalua village.

Acting on a tip-off, Khuntuni PS IIC Satyabrata lenka along with his staff encircled the dreaded criminals, while they were planning for a dacoity, and arrested them. Police seized two theft motorcycles and a revolver from their possession.

They were allegedly involved in hurling bombs on some business houses for collecting extortion in Khuntuni market a fortnight back, said IIC lenka. They are members of the Tito gang, added the police. They were forwarded to the court and subsequently sent to the Athagarh Sub Jail as their bail pleas were rejected.
