Defying all danger signals from house owners’ side, a group of dacoits on Thursday very cleverly looted cash, jewellery and other valuables from two houses in the lingpur area under the lingaraj police limits in the city.
The dacoits entered into the house of businessmen Ashok Kumar Sahoo after breaking the grill and backdoor of the house. They looted cash of Rs 3.70 lakh and with 250 gram of gold ornaments worth over Rs 9 lakh along with other valuables.
“They looted jewellery and cash worth lakhs of rupees from the cupboard in our bedroom while we were sleeping in the room next to the bedroom,” said Sahoo. The miscreants also entered into the house of Subash Chandra Mohanty, only 50 meters away from Sahoo’s house. They used the same method and decamped with 200 grams of gold ornaments worth over Rs 7 lakh and cash of Rs 21,000.
The miscreants also tried to enter into four other houses in the area but failed.
