: A dacoit gang once again struck in the capital city and looted cash, gold ornaments and other valuables by breaking into a house, locking the couple in a bathroom on Friday night.
The incident occurred at Maruti Vihar under the Nandakanan police station.
The couple said they were sleeping when they suddenly heard someone loudly banging on their bedroom door. Before they could get up from the bed, seven to eight persons entered their room by breaking the door
“The dacoits had sharp weapons and they threatened us not to shout. We begged them not to harm us and take all the money as we were scared for our children’s safety. They tied us using bed-sheets, locked us in the bathroom and then robbed gold ornaments worth Rs 7 lakh, cash and other valuables," the victims said.
Getting information, a Nandankan police team reached the spot and initiated a probe to collect clues about the dacoit gang. The incident has triggered panic among the local residents.
Notably, during the recent festival season, burglars had struck and looted several flats in various apartments in the city. In none of the cases, police have achieved any breakthrough.
