The Vigilance police on Wednesday conducted raids at five locations of Baneswar Naik, Assistant Engineer, PH Division-I, now Assistant Manager, WATCO, Section-I, Baripada in Mayurbhanj district, on the allegation of possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
A double-storied building at Talanda under the Badasahi police station in Mayurbhanj district, a triple-storied building at Raghunathpur in Baripada town, anothe double-storied building at native village Chauliasole, Talanda in Mayurbhanj, two plots in Baripada town and one at Talanda, bank and postal and insurance deposits of Rs 33.29 lakh, gold jewellery of 250 grams, a four-wheeler MarutiVeetara Breeza, two two-wheelers and household articles worth over Rs 16.15 lakh were unearthed in the names of Naik and his family members.
Further searches were continuing. Unearthing of more assets was likely and overall valuation was likely to increase.
