The arrested mafia Dhalsamant brothers and 17 of their associates, who are now lodged in different jails of the State, were produced before the Cuttack Sadar Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) on Tuesday through videoconferencing (VC).
Production of the accused under judicial custody before the magistrate once in a fortnight is required under Section 167 of CrPC. They will be produced in court once again on April 27.
However, it was learnt that the elder Dhalsamant brother Sushant, who is lodged at the Jharpada jail in Bhubaneswar, could not be produced before the magistrate on the day due to certain technical difficulties in the equipments.
Nevertheless, Sushil Dhalsamant from the Baleswar jail and his associates from the Choudwar jail appeared before the magistrate through videoconferencing.
