The Nabarangpur district administration in collaboration with the Sampark, a local NGO, conducted a seminar on “Cyclone Disaster Preparedness” here on Sunday.
Umarkote Tehsildar Dharmaraj Majhi gracing as chief guest said the people should to be more alert to tackle cyclones and other disasters. “We’ll be happy to share the lessons learnt from previous disasters in our State and present management practices to help the affected people,” said Majhi. Sampark chairman Kartik Malik said a mock drill on disaster tackling would be conducted on June 19.
He proposed to extend the mock exercise to all the cyclone shelters for wider impact and public awareness.
Among others secretaries of multipurpose cyclone shelters of the district, NGO Kamadhenu president Tuna Maharana and Sampark secretary Dipika Adhikari were present.
