The Indian Metrological Department in its latest bulletin on Wednesday ruled out the possibility of the cyclonic storm ‘Bulbul’ hitting the Odisha coast.

But under its impact, there would be light to moderate rainfall at most places over the north coastal districts of the State from November 9 to 10.

Special Relief Commissioner Pradeep Jena said that thought there are no chances of the cyclone hitting the State, the administrations of the districts likely to be affected by the rains have been asked to remain alert.

Besides, cyclone shelters, boats and essential commodities have been kept in readiness in the areas which are likely to be affected.

The IMD said the deep depression over east central and adjoining south east Bay of Bengal has lay centred about 810 km south-southeast of Paradip. It is very likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm during next 24 hours and move west northwestwards for some more time and then north-northwestwards towards West Bengal and adjoining north Odisha and Bangladesh coasts.

The sea condition would be very rough to high over east-central Bay of Bengal till November 7 evening and very high to phenomenal thereafter over central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal..Fishermen have been advised not to venture into north Bay of Bengal along and off the Odisha-West Bengal coasts from November 8 onwards, said the weather office.
