Cyber crimes a major challenge for police

Published on:

In order to properly investigate and detect the cyber crimes reported in the State, a seminar was organised at the police headquarters on Saturday. More than 60 police officers from across the State attended the workshop addressed by experts from different fields.Inaugurating the seminar, DGP Sanjeev Marik hoped that such workshops and seminars would immensely benefit the State police in detecting the cyber crimes. Although the cyber crimes are new yet they are very challenging, and if adequate infrastructure and manpower are not built, the situation may worsen.

Only one cyber police station is functioning in the entire State now from the police headquarters since 2006. looking at the increase in number of such cases due to strong penetration of internet facilitating online services, it has been suggested to open a few more police stations to exclusively deal with cyber crimes.
