The Khordha Child Welfare Committee (CWC) on Saturday engaged a counsellor for the four-year-old girl who was subjected to sexual harassment by a school bus driver in the city.
The counsellor would try to bring the girl out of the trauma she is having after the incident. The CWC also directed the Mahila police to speed up the investigation process of the case under relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.
Meanwhile, the concerned city-based English medium school authorities suspended the accused driver and one of his associates who also happens to be a driver.
The arrested 25-year-old driver, Bijay Maharana, had been working in the school for the past three years. The four-year-old school is located at Gangapada under the Chandaka police limits.
Bijay, a Chandaka resident, took the child to the misbehaved with girl in school toilet at around10.30 am on Thursday.
The matter came to light after the child informed her parents about the incident in the school toilet. When the parents inquired, the child who was having pain in her private parts described her ordeal. The parents immediately lodged a complaint at the Mahila police station.
