Cuttack witnesses bomb attack a day after firing

Published on:

Just a day after a firing incident, miscreants gave yet another fresh challenge to the Commissionerate police on Friday afternoon, when two youths escaped swiftly after hurling two bombs at a computer sales and services counter inside the busy Arundoy Market here under the Madhupatna police station.

Although, the computer outlet owner was unhurt in the bomb attack, two of his customers have received injuries and are now undergoing treatment in the local SCB Medical College Hospital. “We have shifted the injured to the hospital and are investigating into the case after registering a case,” said city DCP Sanjiv Arora, who visited the spot to take stock of the situation. While police refuse to speak anything about the motive behind the bomb attack, locals suspect either previous rivalry or extortion demand could be the reason behind it.

Meanwhile, the police have picked up at least six persons in connection with Wednesday’s OMP market complex firing incident, in which a shopkeeper died. Police maintain that the deceased was also a land broker and was once arrested earlier for fraudulent activities.
