Cuttack villagers file plaint against CESU manager

The villagers of Andhoti of Baranga block in Cuttack district have filed a complaint with the Chief Minister’s Office against a CESU official for delaying installation of anelectric transformer.

They demanded action against CESU Junior Manager, Govindpur Sub-Section, Pravat Kumar Sahoo for “intentionally” delaying the work.

“Nearly 120 BPl families of our village have been deprived of electricity supply for last two years due to theft of both the electric transformers installed under the RGGVY. One electric transformer located at Bhoi Sahi of Andhoti was stolen in May 2012 and later the second one located on Andhoti-Bainlo Road was stolen in December 2013. Since May 2012, the villagers have approached CESU officials and the district Collector several times, nut nothing positive has yet happened,” alleged the villagers.

The villagers further alleged that the Junior Manager had informed in October last that he could arrange one transformer which was sanctioned for another village only if he was personally satisfied. However, the villagers did not oblige and approached CESU Executive Engineer, CED, Cuttack, SK Goud. Goud, who said a 60-KV transformer had been sanctioned for the village five months ago under the DESI scheme with financial assistance from the local Area Development fund of Niali MlA Pramod Mullick, the villagers said. When the game plan of Sahoo was exposed, he played several dirty tricks to further delay reinstallation work, the villagers alleged.

Suspecting that CESU officials are involved in transformer theft racket, the villagers said Govindpur sub-section had reported more than 50 transformer theft cases during the tenure of Sahoo.

They urged Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for a probe into the entire matter and order speedy execution of transformer installation work. The villagers also submitted a petition to the State Vigilance Cell, demanding strong action against the local official.
