Challenging the city police on the eve of the Dusshera, miscreants on Saturday hurled bombs at an influential functionary of the local bus owners’ association near the Badamabadi bus terminus here, injuring him critically.
The police said Badambadi Bus Owners’ Association secretary Ajay Barik received multiple injuries when some unidentified miscreants threw bombs at him while he was returning home from the bus terminus at around 9.30 am.
“No one is yet arrested although raids were undertaken in and around the city throughout the day,” said Badambadi Police Inspector Ranjit Prusty. The police believed that the bomb attack could be due to previous rivalry.
It may be noted that a lawyer of the city was also injured in bomb attacks near link Road under the Madhupatna PS last month. While the police are yet to solve this case, the Saturday’s incident added to the headache of the city cops.
Criminal incidents just on the eve of the Dusshera have left the citizenry in panic while the police are trying to dilute the situation by claiming that all such incidents are taking place due to previous rivalries.
