All shops and other business establishments in Cuttack city would remain closed from 2 pm for 15 days starting from May 3 till May 18.
The decision was taken on Friday after the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) approved the recommendation of traders’ associations regarding the restricted operation timings of shops and other business establishments. Only medicine shops and other essential services would be allowed to operate. Keeping in view the steep spike in Covid-19 positive cases in the city in the last couple of days, different traders’ association had given a proposal to the CMC for restricted operation timings and the latter welcomed the decision, said CMC Commissioner Ananya Das.
On April 28, Director of Health Service Bijay Mahapatra had cautioned that a community Covid transmission-like situation has arisen in the Twin City of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
