Vigilance officers on Wednesday arrested Cuttack Sadar Block Education Officer Paramananda Mishra on the charge of demanding and accepting bribe of `5,000 from Sujapur Primary School Assistant Teacher Pradipta Chandra Das to process his file for regularisation of medical leave and increment and updating of service book.
According to the complaint, Das had remained absent from the school due to illness, and in order to regularise the leave, he had submitted medical certificates to the BDO. Despite repeated requests, BEO Mishra demanded `5,000 to process the file.
The Vilgilance sleuths laid a trap and caught the BEO red-handed in his residential house at Rajendra Nagar while demanding and accepting bribe money of `5,000 from Das.
In another such case, Vigilance officers arrested Jagatsinghpur district’s Balikuda tehsil Senior Clerk Pranakrushna Naik for taking bribe of `3,300 from Dillip Kumar Jena of Arilo village to issue RoRs (Patta) in his favour.
Jena had applied to the Tehsildar for issuance of RoRs in respect of eleven mutation cases. But Nayak demanded `3, 905 for the above purpose, although the prescribed Government fees is `605.
He was nabbed red-handed while taking the bribe money of `3,300 from Jena, the complainant.
Residential houses of both Mishra and Nayak were being searched, said an official release.
