Cuttack OJM protests Babu's arrest

Coming down heavily on the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD Government for its “autocratic rule”, the Cuttack district unit of the Odisha Jan Morcha (OJM) on Sunday staged a demonstration near the Gourishankar Park here and demanded immediate release of party secretary general Jagnenswar Babu.

Shouting anti-Government slogans, the OJM workers protested the “illegal” arrest of Babu and termed it as a well-planned conspiracy against the OJM leader. They also alleged that Babu was arrested on the instruction of Chief Minister Patnaik.

“The State Government is using its power to harass prominent political activists such as Babu. The CM should function democratically,” urged the protestors.

“We urge the Chief Minister not to target OJM leaders with political motive and to respect the democratic system,” they said. They threatened that they would intensify their agitation in the district if the Government does not release Babu.
