Basing on a complaint filed by a 22-year-old city girl that a roadside Romeo passed lewd remarks at her and touched her inappropriately, the Badambadi police here on Sunday arrested one Chittaranjan Patra (30) of the nearby Friends’ Colony and forwarded him to court.
“The accused was arrested on the charges of using criminal force to the complainant under Section 354-B of IPC and was forwarded to court,” informed Badambadi police inspector BN Pati.
The incident had happened on Saturday evening near the State’s busiest bus terminus here after which the girl thrashed the youth in public with her sandal as he tried to call his friends over telephone.
Someone had recorded the entire scene with a mobile phone, and the video went viral in the city on Sunday. Identifying the youth from the clippings, he was arrested, police said.
