The 15th High Court-level mega lok Adalat held here on Saturday disposed of 78 cases, including 41 Motor Accident Claim Tribunal (MACT) cases. The judges presiding over the Adalats also directed the insurance companies to pay damage of over Rs 1.04 crore to different claimants.
As many as 266 cases, including 106 MACT cases, were listed for disposal on the day. Justices MM Das, SC Parija, BK Nayak and Dr AK Rath of the Odisha High Court presided over the lok Adalata and adjudicated the cases. Out of the 104 WPC cases listed on the day, only 11 could be taken up. Similarly, as many as 56 land Acquisition cases were listed for disposal, but only 26 of them were taken up, sources said.
