Jiban Kumar Padhi, Accountant, lift Irrigation Division Office, Jobra, Cuttack, was caught red handed by the Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 20,000.
He was taking the bribe from Pradeepta Prakash Acharya, Managing Director, M/s Bikash Bharati Services Pvt ltd, Dumduma, Bhubaneswar for forwarding the bills amounting to Rs 20,00, 000 to the Executive Engineer of his office. His rented house near Shelter Chhack, Deula Sahi, SBI Colony Road, Cuttack, was being searched.
In yet another case, Viglance sleuths raided houses and office of Sanjib Kumar Mohapatra, Assistant Sub-Auditor of Cooperative Society, Cuttack following complaints of acquisition and possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
His assets detected were estimated to be worth Rs 1,03,92,465.
The locations raided included his residential building at Pithapur, Cuttack, father-in-law’s house at Nuabazar, Cuttack, office room at Sankarpur, Cuttack and residential building at CDA, Cuttack.
