A two-day national level workshop on electro homoeopathy began on Saturday in Cuttack to mark the 205th birth anniversary of Dr Count Cesare Mattei, the founder of electro homoeopathy treatment. The State Electro Homoeopathic Physicians Association (SEPA) is organising the workshop.
SEP assistant secretary Dr lalatendu Dalai said a broad discussion was held on the electro homoeopathy system of treatment in the workshop. Noted doctors from across the country joined the workshop, he informed. Dr Mattei had introduced the system using electric charges out of herbals. According to his theory, the right side of a human body is negative, the left side positive and the middle portion is neutral.
In this system, medicines are prepared by mixing essence of various plants. Dr Mattei had got tremendous results by treating 20,000 patients with complicated diseases in two years from 1865-1867. The medicines worked amazingly. Electro homoeopathy was brought to India by Dr Augustus Muller in 1885.
The medicine was used in some leprosy patients in a hospital at Kankanady in Karnataka. Now, there are more than 3,000 physicians practicing the system of treatment in Odisha. Baripada was the first to establish an institute on electro homoeopathy in 1982.
