Cuttack cops yet to trace girl missing from hospital

Even four days after a 25-year-old girl has gone missing from the premises of the SCB Medical College and Hospital here, the city police are still clueless about the case. On the other hand, the relatives of the missing girl from Talcher alleged that the police are not taking the case seriously.

The relatives of the girl on Thursday blamed the Commissionerate police for not making any effort to trace Sumitra Mohapatra, who had come to the hospital for treatment along with her father Keshab Chandra Mohapatra last Friday.

Speaking to reporters here, a relative of the girl said Sumitra was waiting in front of the hospital outdoor to meet doctors. But when she wanted to freshen up, she went behind the gynaecology department along with her father.

“While her father waited a few meters away from the deserted place, Sumitra went behind the building. However, when Sumitra did not return after a long while, her father went behind the building and was shocked when he did not find his daughter there,” the relative said, adding that after a massive search failed to trace the girl, a complaint was made at the local police outpost.

“The police are not taking up our case seriously. They have now even started misbehaving with us and threatening of action as we repeatedly approach them with our request to trace the girl,” said another relative of the victim.
