The police came to know about the incident through an SMS from his friend stating that the third-year student was in a depressed state of mind for last several days.
City DCP Akhilesh Singh informed the media that the Markat Nagar police received a forwarded message that was initially sent by the neighbour of the student, who was staying in a mess located at the residential colony of Abhinav Bidanasi. The message appealed to the police to intervene and rescue the student, who was perhaps into the suicidal game.
“A team of the local police intercepted the engineering student in the mess which he was staying located in the satellite city of Abhnav Bidanasi and his parents in Keonjhar district were informed about it,” the DCP said, adding that the student had written F57 in his hand and had reached the tenth level of the online game.
The DCP further appealed that if anybody, out of curiosity, has entered into the game and is threatened by the administrator to perform certain unrealistic task or else would face consequences, he should immediately inform about it to the police and the police would definitely intervene into it.
