The police here have launched a massive manhunt to trace a minor girl, who was kidnapped from here about five months ago, raped by at least four persons, including two brothers and their uncle, at different places and abandoned for over two months now.
“Although we have arrested the four rape accused, including the mastermind, we are yet to trace the girl as the accused persons are feigning ignorance about her whereabouts, saying she had escaped from their hideout two months ago,” informed Badambadi police station IIC BN Pati.
Police said one Jayant Nayak (19) of nearby Khuntuni deceitfully kidnapped the Class-VIII dropout girl from the Badambadi area in November last year under the pretext of marriage and established physical relationship with her after keeping her in a house at an isolated place along the NH passing through Khuntuni. Subsequently, Jayant’s elder brother Prashant (21) and his uncle Bidyadhar (30) raped the girl on different occasions, police said, adding that one more friend of Prashant, namely Ranjan Sahoo, also raped the girl at another place, which was recorded by Prashant in his mobile phone.
The plight of the girl came to the knowledge of her family here when Prashant and Ranjan delivered a mobile memory card containing her obscene pictures to her brother-in-law last week. On a complaint filed by the girl’s father, police registered a case on March 14 and arrested the four under several Sections of IPC, Pocso Act and IT Act.
