Even though 24 hours passed after the brutal murder of a youth, the Cuttack city police were clueless by Wednesday evening about the perpetrators and the motive behind the gruesome incident.
An affable businessman Rabi lenka (26) of nearby Patara Sahi was received dead by the SCB Medical College Hospital here late on Tuesday evening with two bullet injuries in his lower abdomen.lenka was allegedly fired at the College Square under the Malgodown police station while he was gossiping with some of his friends. Quoting eye witnesses, police said four youths covering their faces surrounded lenka and fired at least four rounds at him while two shots missed him.
Meanwhile, police have rounded up two persons and quizzing them in this connection. Claiming that disclosers at this stage would hamper further investigation, police refused to divulge anything.On the other hand, the last rites of lenka were performed at his native place in a bereaved atmosphere where hundreds of his friends and relatives joined the funeral procession. Traders and businessmen of the College Square downed their shutters on the day as a mark of respect to the departed soul.
