Subham Nayak of Cuttack-A and Raj Kishan Patel of Jharsuguda scaled seven wickets each and guided their respective teams to take first innings lead against Sundargarh and Balangir respectively in the inaugural match of their two-day league match of the Kalahandi Cup Cricket Tournament at different grounds in Cuttack on Saturday.
Devastating bowling of Subham who scalped 7 wickets by giving 31 runs bundle out Sundargarh for 93 in 29.4 over. In reply, Cuttack-A declared their innings 236 for 5 in 40.4 overs. The combined batting of Bikash Pati (86), Rajesh Dhuper (55) and Biplab Samantray (50) guided Cuttack-A to take 143 runs lead. Sundargarh scored 33 for 2 in the second innings at day one stumps.
A seven wickets haul by Kishan Patel of Jharsuguda bowled out Balangir for 84 in 32 overs. In reply, Md Sha Alam smashed 106 runs and Jharsuguda to take 134 first innings led.
The tournament is featuring a total of 37 teams participating in two-day league matches after being divided into six groups.
Three-day quarterfinal matches will take place from March 26 to 28. These will be followed by three-day semifinals from March 30 to April 1 and the four-day final from April 3 to 6.
