The Joda Vikash Parishad staged a protest in front of SBI here in protest against the recent decision on charges levied for different transactions.

As per the new provision of the bank, if a customer does more than three cash transactions of deposit or withdrawal then he will be charged Rs 25 for every transaction, alleged the agitators , adding that the decision of the bank to penalise the customers for not maintaining certain minimum amount as deposit not only contravenes the spirit of the Jan Dhan Yojana  of  Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but is highly arbitrary and against the interest of the customers.

The agitators staged a protest in front of the bank to observe April 6 as no transaction day.

When contacted, Chief Manager of the bank Chandramani Barik told that the decision has been taken at the Central level of SBI and they are only implementing the same. He also further said that the main objective of the bank is to promote digital transaction and discourage cash transaction. However, he said that he would forward the memorandum of the Parishad to the higher authority of the bank.
