The SBI customers of Joda have complained of harassment and noncooperation by the bank staff members in matters pertaining to availing any services or grievances over them.
This came to light when one Sushanta Kumar’s Kar from a News Agency at Joda Market had gone to SBI ,Joda branch to exchange the some coins worth Rs 1,000 accumulated from the daily sale of news papers. After entering the bank when he found no one in the counter meant for exchange, he tried to contact the Chief Manager (CM) but it was in vain as the CM Ashish Kumar Mahapatra was himself on leave.
Then he tried to contact other staff members but no one was in a position to help him as only two counters out of total six were opened which too were over crowded. The rest four were closed as three staff members were on leave.
Before this, Sushanta had come to the bank in the previous week but that time Manager Mohaptra had given him the assurance to exchange the coins this week. Accordingly, when he tried to contact him over phone, there was no response from him.
Disappointed, he contacted Regional Manager at Keonjhar Manaranjan Samal and appraised him of the problem. After the intervention of RM Samal , the bank exchanged all the coins. Sources alleged that on earlier occasions when the customers approached the Manager of the bank to get their work done, he instead of cooperating, suggested them to close their accounts.
