BJP Krushak Morcha national president Vijay Pal Singh Tomar has appealed to Odisha farmers not to commit suicide but to utter a curse against the Naveen Patnaik Government for failing to resolve their problems in the last 15 years.
Tomar, who visited Sankulei village in Dhenkanal district on Sunday, expressed unhappiness that the State Government is callously sitting silent even though a whopping number of 45 farmers have committed suicide in recent months.
Alleging that district Collectors are working as ruling party workers, Tomar said, “It is really a shame that the State Government is doing nothing to prevent the suicidal deaths of farmers but instead trying cover up such deaths by fabricating reports though district Collectors.”
Tomar along with BJP leaders, including for Rajya Sabha member Rudra Narayan Pany, State Krushak Morcha presidnet Maheswar Sahu and former State Assembly Deputy Speaker Rama Chandra Panda consoled family members Baidhar Pradhan, a farmer of Sankulei village who committed suicide recently for crop loss and loan burden. Tomar paid `11,000 to Baidhar’s family as a token of his sympathy, sources said.
