leader of five left political parties, CPI(M), CPI, CPI(Ml) liberation, Forward Bloc and SUCI(Communist), staged a dharna here on Wednesday to press for fulfilment of their 10-point charter of demands.The leaders also submitted a memorandum in this regard to Governor Dr SC Jamir.
The demands included stopping of process to weaken the spirit of MGNREGA, curbing price rise of essential commodities and medicines, no increase in FDI in insurance sector, stopping of infiltration of Hindutva ideology in education and other areas, halting of ‘love Zihad’ campaign and attack on minorities, ending of violence against women, stopping of forcible land acquisitions from farmers, speedy CBI inquiry in chit-fund scam, restoration of illegally allotted land under the discretionary quota and CBI inquiry into the mining scam.
CPI(M) State secretary Janardan Pati, CPI State secretary Dibakar Nayak, FB State secretary Purnachandra Padhi, CPI(Ml) liberation’s Judhstir Mohapatra and SUCI(Communist)’s State Secretary Dhrujati Das submitted the memorandum.
