A dharna by the permanent group B and group C non-teaching staff of the Central University of Orissa (CUO) was called off on Monday after discussion with Vice-Chancellor, Prof Sachidananda Mohanty. The Vice-Chancellor accepted all the four demands of the non-teaching staff.
Prof Mohanty said, “The CUO is a family and it is important that we sort out our differences through a process of dialogue. We have important tasks ahead and we should dedicate ourselves to the overall growth of the university.”
He thanked all for their co-operation. The employees reciprocated and resumed work immediately.
The demands of the non-teaching staff include time-bound promotions, enhanced medical facilities, housing facilities in other available Government and public sector quarters and permission to apply for other outside employment in Government sectors.
