The Odisha Environment and CSR Summit 2015 was on Saturday inaugurated at Gopalpur in Ganjam district by Higher Education Minister Dr Pradeep Kumar Panigrahy and district Collector Prem Chandra Chaudhary.

Nalco Executive Director (HR) Ashok Sahu and JSPl vice-president (CC & CSR) Prashant Kumar Hota were present. Odisha CSR Forum convener BK Mishra presided over the meeting.

In his speech, Panigrahy opined that sharing a part of a company’s profit for the society is a good thing but sharing its paradigm is a better endeavour. He advised that professionals and experts discuss policies and make plans to shape up future CSR activities during the two-day submit.

The district Collector said for any project, two aspects, environment and society, should be assessed and implemented properly. Stating that CSR is a compulsion for any company, Hota said making strategic partnership with people and Government is very helpful.

Sahu stressed CSR spending should focus on education as it is important for social development. Three companies, the Jindal Steel Power ltd, Rourkela Steel Plant and the IFFCO were awarded for their remarkable CSR works in the State. A souvenir was released on the occasion.
