To ensure pucca houses for all households in rural areas within the shortest period, Chief Secretary AP Padhi inaugurated a ‘Rural Technology Park’ in the premises of the State Institute for Rural Development (SIRD) here on Monday.
On the occasion, Padhi held discussions with the members of women self-help groups, who were being given training on new technologies for production of various construction materials.
The aim of the Rural Technological Park is to provide training to WSHG members on technological aspects free of cost. Beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana and Nirman Shramik Pucca Ghar Yojana and others can buy construction materials from the park. With these construction materials, the cost of a house would be lessened by 20% and the house can be constructed within two months.
It was revealed that a total of 18.90 lakh kutcha houses have been converted into pucca houses during the last three years since 2014-15.
