Reviewing the implementation of the campaign under Universal Health Coverage Programme of State Government, Chief Secretary Padhi directed the Collectors to cover all households both in rural and urban areas and ensure “zero” diarrhoea death in the age group of 0-5 during the current season.
Padhi further directed to prevent morbidity and mortality due to malaria, diarrhoea and dengue in all age groups.
Special Secretary Pandit said that the MDD campaign and Integrated Diarrhoea Control Month (ICDM) has been launched from June 20 and it would be carried on till September 19.
During this time all the households in 30 districts and five municipal corporations will be covered under the campaign. The campaign will be implemented in two phases over this three- month period. The Phase-I which has started from June 20 will continue up to July 19.
During this period the diarrhoea control measures will be intensified in 117 priority blocks and other 197 identified blocks.
The Phase-II will start from July 20 and will last up to September 19.
This phase will focus on prevention and control of malaria and dengue.
Chief Secretary Padhi directed the Collectors to conduct district level convergence meeting involving concerned departments, review availability of drugs, logistics and IEC material and position those at appropriate level for delivery to people.
They were also asked to procure ORS packets and drugs, if necessary, in coordination with the Odisha State Medical Corporation. Secretary Meherda asked the Collectors to work out the district level monitoring plan involving all the stakeholders.
Further, Chief Secretary Padhi directed the Collectors and CDMOs to ensure proper implementation of Nidan ( free diagnostic service), Sahaya (free dialysis service), Niramaya ( free medicine supply) and Nirmal ( promotion of healthy and hygienic hospitals including sanitation laundry, security and lift services).
The Government has made annual budgetary provision of Rs120 crore for these ancillary services up to PHC level. The Collectors were also asked to ensure disbursal of nutrition support assistance to the TB patients.
It may be pertinent here to mention that the Government has made provision of providing Rs500 per month to each TB patient as nutritional support assistance.
This is being provided with effect from April 1.
There are around 53,000 notified TB cases in the State. All eligible patients will be covered under the programme.
