CRPF health camps boon for neglected R'gada tribals

Published on:

Of late the district has witnessed serious health delivery lapses like a tribal pregnant mother being carried in a “charpoy” and succumbing to delivery pain.

After a few days, yet another scheduled caste mother staying hardly a km from the block headquarters got carried in a charpoy after being unattended by the 108 ambulance in spite of several requests. These two incidents occurred in Kalyan Singhpur Block of the district.

Unfortunately, in Kashipur block four persons died due to anthrax, a disease due to consumption of rotten beef. The district administration simply washed its hands off by blaming the community’s lack of awareness. Nobody in the delivery mechanism was made accountable and the tribals were left to their providence.

The emphasis on health aspects by corporate like Utkal Alumina International limited (UAIl), a Birla company in Kashipur and Vedanta limited of lanjigarh bordering Kalyan Singhpur seems not much though most of their peripheral villages witness severe health deficit.

In this context, the health camps under the direct supervision of Manoj Kumar Sharma, Commandant, 4th Battalion, Rayagada, have created a lot of hopes and optimism among the tribals in these interior pockets.

Recently during the Valour Day observation, the CRPF jawans under the able leadership Sharma did not forget to organise a blood donation camp in the campus of the 4th Battalion. Many jawans along with officers donated blood. This was a part of their heath camp initiative which was a continuous process in the region.

The Valour Day was inaugurated by JPK Ray, DIGP, CRPF, who reiterated the memories which took place during 1965 when Pak Army had launched an operation “Desert Hawk” against Indian border post to establish claim over some Indian territory.

Officers and jawans of CRPF paid floral tribute to the martyrs of CRPF who had laid down their lives for the sake of the country. A motor bike rally was also organised. In the evening a Bara khana was also organised.
