Health Minister and local MLA Naba Kisore Das along with representatives of Jharsuguda farmers on Wednesday met Agriculture Minister Arun Kumar Sahoo demanding disbursement of crop insurance in Jharsuguda district for the 2020 kharif season. The Agriculture Secretary and the Director of Agriculture were present during discussion. Last year, crop loss by insects was reported in eight panchayats of Laikera, Kirmira and Kolabira blocks of the district while presenting crop cutting report. Discussion was held as crop insurance is not provided even after lapse of a year. Minister Sahoo assured necessary steps for payment of crop insurance to farmers shortly. On behalf of farmers, Kirmira Block President Tejaraj Sahoo, Sarat Kumar Patel, Saroj Nayak were present among others.
