Croc drags divyang man into Brahmani

A divyang (differently-abled) man went missing after he was dragged by a crocodile into the Brahmani river in Kendrapada district on Tuesday.

Kuna Barik of Sahupada village under the Aul police limits was taking bath in the river when the crocodile pulled him and disappeared into deep water, according to eyewitnesses.

Locals and fire tender personnel launched a search operation to rescue Kuna. However, till last reports came in, the victim was yet to be traced.

Notably, one Sanjay Pradhan of Mandapada village in the district had also gone missing after a crocodile attack on June 2. His body was found with injury marks on the riverbank in Harijan Sahi next day.

Locals are now panicked by frequent crocodile attacks as the Brahmani is the only source of water for them in the absence of bore-wells.
