Crisis eases as 220 truckloads of potato reach State

Around 220 truckloads of potato reached the State since Sunday night, informed Civil Supplies Secretary Madhusudan Padhi on Monday.

“There is no more potato crisis in the State. Since last night nearly 220 potato trucks reached the State resulting in slowdown in price. Potato is now being sold at Rs18 per kg instead of Rs24 per kg on Sunday,” said the Secretary.

The West Bengal Government allowed 126 truckloads of potato to enter the State on Sunday after an undeclared restriction of two weeks.

To further improve the situation, the Odisha State Civil Supplies Corporation (OSCSC) procured over 3,000 quintals of potato through the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India limited (Nafed) for Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, Rourkela, Sambalpur and Brahmapur, he informed.
