locals killed hardened criminal Sonu Das alias Sonu Munda when he attacked a pregnant lady during a cultural programme held during Dussehra at Deheripali under Ainthapali police station limits. In retaliation, Sonu also attacked a few other youths of the area that night before being silenced for ever.
“Earlier, Sonu had been arrested under the NSA and released on bail just ten days back. More than 20 cases of grievous nature in different police stations are pending against him. This time, he again continued his criminal activities, which was enough for the locals to tolerate and they killed him,” informed local police.
The police arrested 11 persons related to Sonu’s murder, including two minors. But the residents of Deheripali and nearby localities did not believe the involvement of the people framed in Sonu’s murder.
