The police on Saturday night arrested notorious criminal Sustanta Kumar Bharati (30) of village Palar under the Dharmasala police station in Jajpur district at Dharmasala and seized a revolver, three bullets and a motorcycle from him.
Bharati along with three other motorcycle-borne criminals looted money and a mobile phone from Dhaneswar Das of Gangadharpur after brandishing a revolver at him on Saturday night at Dharmasala. But some villagers managed catch hold of one of the criminals.
The police are raiding several hideouts to arrest the other criminals who fled from the spot.
The arrested criminal was booked under Section 392 of IPC and Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act. On Sunday, he was produced in the court of Judicial Magistrate First Class at Chandikhol. The court rejected his bail application and remanded him to jail custody.
