Criminal, aides nabbed in Ganjam encounter

In yet another encounter in Ganjam district, police on Tuesday nabbed a dreaded criminal, Buchi Patra, and two of his associates in the Kakudia jungle near Mathura village under Polasara Tehsil.

The other arrestees were identified as Ajit Nayak alias lipu of Athagada Patna and Akhaya Nayak alias Panda of KS Nagar. The police seized a mouser, two ammos and a motorcycle from their processions.

Sources said that acting on a tipoff that Buchi and his associates were hiding in that area, a police team conducted the raid. Spotting the police, Buchi and his associates opened fire at them in a bid to escape from the spot. In the retaliatory firing by the cops in self-defence, Buchi suffered bullet injuries in his legs and was nabbed.

later, the injured Patra was taken to the Polosara CHC in a critical condition.
