The crime rate in Sundargarh Police district is soaring day by day as during last 21 months, 94 persons were lynched in Sundargarh.
Starting from the year 2013 to September 2014, 94 murder cases were registered in different police stations in Sundargarh and in connection to these cases, 123 accused were arrested and forwarded to court. Similarly, 20 cases of dacoity were registered for which 68 persons were arrested. In snatching, 21 cases were registered in 2013. A total of 52 persons were arrested and court forwarded in snatching case. In treasury theft, 137 cases were registered for which 111 persons were arrested.
In 2013, 199 theft cases were registered whereas from January 2014 to September 2014, 124 theft cases were registered. A total of 301 persons were arrested by Sundargarh police in connection to these theft cases. Similarly in cheating case, 37 cases were registered in 2013 and from January 2014 to September 2014, 31 cases were registered and pertaining to these cases, total 64 persons were arrested and forwarded to court.
In 2013, total 38 communal violence cases were registered and till September 2014, 21 cases were registered, for which Sundargarh Police arrested a total of 61 persons and forwarded them to court. Similarly, in the same year, 53 rape cases were registered whereas till September 2014, 39 rape cases were registered.As many as 117 persons were arrested and forwarded to court in this connection.
“We are trying our level best to check crime in Sundargarh,” said district SP R Prakash.
