A crematorium jointly constructed by the Hindalco and the Sambalpur Municipal Corporation at Falsaketa in Sambalpur district was dedicated to the public at a function held on Saturday.
Hindalco Hirakud Complex Head Rajesh Gupta, MlA Dr Raseswari Panigrahi and Collector Balwant Singh jointly inaugurated the crematorium. Among others, Sambalpur Development Authority (SDA) Chairman Bijay Mohanty and Hindalco FRP unit head Sandeep Ray were present.
Notably, the local people had been facing many difficulties as the crematorium was half-constructed and in a very worse condition.
There was no provision of water and people had to travel 2 km for water. But with the Hindalco’s support, the crematorium has now become full-fledged with a proper roof, water facility, fan, electricity and facility for cremation of two persons at a time.
