The Odisha Chapter of the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (Credai) is planning to build more than 6,000 units of affordable houses in the State. This was informed by joint secretary of the chapter Nitish Ranjan Nanda here on Monday.

He said, “Affordable houses will be developed for lower and middle income groups within a range of Rs 8 lakh to Rs 15 lakh very soon. Besides, around 11,000 units of houses worth Rs 8,000 crore are under construction. The Credai is also planning to build more houses with an investment of around Rs 6,000 crore.

Out of the 11,000 houses, around 30 to 40 per cent are ready to occupy.”Chapter president Binay Krishna Das said that though there is economic slowdown, the number of genuine customers in the real estate sector never falls; rather the number of real customers is increasing every year.

The chapter is also going to organise the fourth edition of its annual expo from November 8 at the Janata Maidan here. During the three-day exhibition, it would also hold workshops and skill develop programmes for construction workers, said chapter general secretary Umesh Patnaik.

The association would organise ‘Statecon’, a workshop involving developers from across the State, where they can discuss various problems faced by them.
