CPM to protest Bhushan's threat to labourers

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) would strongly protest the Bhushan Steel limited (BSl) authorities’ threat to their labourers who were staging a dharna in front of the company gate on Saturday night.

According to the party, the company authorities by using private security at around 2 am on Sunday threatened the labourers not to protest against the company and to leave the dharna place immediately. Even the company officials tried to bribe a few agitating labourers in order to stop the protests, the party sources added.

Party secretariat member Dushmant Das said the company has been trying to destroy all evidences of the mishap to escape from high-level inquiries and for which it did  not allow Government officials, trade union leaders, mediaperons and political representatives of various parties.

Das said the State Government’s inaction and the labour Department’s silence have raised eyebrows on both the Government’s soft attitude towards the company. He demanded a judicial probe into the case and `20 lakh compensation to the family members of the deceased. “If the company authorities don’t stop threatening labourers, the party will take the issue to the streets,” said Das.
