Workers and supporters of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) Ganjam district committee staged a demonstration in front of the office of the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) office here on Tuesday demanding CBI probe into mining scam, house and land allotment scam and employment for youths.
Party workers led by senior leaders Ali Kishore Patnaik and Jagannath Mishra came in a procession started from Biju Patnaik Park in the city and staged a dharna in front of the RDC office. later the party leaders submitted a six-point charter of demands to the RDC.Patnaik said the State Government is yet to give land patta to the landless people of the district. He also demanded compensation for farmers who lost their crop due to Phailin.
The workers lashed at the State Government which failed to save the life of Sunita Raita, a nursing student of Gajapati district who committed suicide for stipend delay, and other girl students of Ganjam and Nabarangpur. “The State has failed to control law and order situation of the district and violence against women,” said Patnaik.
